Since 2009, Axial has designed homes, workplaces and hospitality spaces across India.
A small team with a long view
Axial is an architecture and interior design studio of twenty-four people based in Ahmedabad. We believe good buildings come from listening carefully, drawing constantly and staying close to construction.
Our work ranges from private homes to hotels and workplaces, but every project is led personally by a partner from first meeting to handover.
To make places that improve everyday life — calmer, healthier and more beautiful — and that grow better with age.
To design each project from its site outward, using honest materials and careful detail, and to deliver it with the same care we give the first sketch.

Fifteen years, one studio
2009
Studio founded
Vikram Desai opens a two-person studio in Ahmedabad with a first commission for a courtyard house.
2012
First villa on the coast
A weekend villa in Alibaug sets the tone for the studio’s coastal work.
2015
Interiors practice launches
Aanya Kapoor joins to lead a dedicated interior design team.
2018
National recognition
The Cedar Bungalow receives the studio’s first national design award.
2021
A new studio home
The team moves into a restored 1960s building in Bodakdev with a model workshop and material library.
2024
250 projects
The studio completes its 250th project across architecture and interiors.
