Start with the site

Every project begins with a morning on site. We watch where the light falls, feel where the breeze comes from and note what the neighbours see. Those observations shape the plan more than any precedent.

Good architecture is less about adding and more about knowing what to leave out.

Fewer, better decisions

We try to make a small number of strong decisions and then follow them through consistently — a single material carried from outside to inside, a single line that organises the whole plan.

• Orient principal rooms to north and east light.
• Shade west-facing glass with depth, not film.
• Let materials age honestly.
